   Haus Lange Haus Esters

   The two villas Haus Lange and Haus Esters were built in 1927/28 by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. Haus Lange has been part of the Kunstmuseen Krefeld since 1955 and Haus Esters since 1981. Since then they have been a venue for the presentation of contemporary art and design.

   Collection

   From Art Nouveau to ZERO, from Claude Monet to Gerhard Richter - the collection of the Kunstmuseen Krefeld today comprises around 24,000 works of fine and applied art from the late Middle Ages to the present.

   Studio 2 / DwellingLab

   Charlotte Perriand devoted herself to the question, 'How can a harmonious, functional home be created in a limited space?' and now visitors also have the opportunity to explore this question. Studio 2 has been transformed into the DwellingLab for this purpose and was developed in collaboration with the designer Michael Grandt. You are invited to become designers yourselves and experience the design process of Charlotte Perriand.

   Digital Tools with KunstKannibale

   With the new museum app featuring a media guide, quiz, and game, the current exhibition Charlotte Perriand. L’Art d’habiter / The Art of Dwelling can also be explored digitally starting December 9. Another highlight is the virtual reality application, which allows visitors to experience Perriand’s mobile architecture Refuge Tonneau. The digital offerings were developed by the collective KunstKannibale, consisting of the siblings Miriam and Tom Breuer.

   November 25th: Lecture: City, Country, River - Photography in an artistic context at the Kunstmuseen Krefeld

   4 p.m., Hochschule Niederrhein, Krefeld

   Thomas Janzen will speak at the Urban Places photography symposium at Hochschule Niederrhein, Frankenring 20 in Krefeld. His presentation, fittingly themed around the symposium, will focus on photographic works from the Krefeld Art Museums collection. The symposium will explore documentary-conceptual approaches from Bernd and Hilla Becher to Jeff Wall, as well as the street photography of François-Marie Banier. The symposium will examine how urban spaces are photographically represented, interpreted, and questioned. The symposium is led by Prof. Gudrun Kemsa, and other speakers include Prof. Nicolas Beucker, Prof. Dr. Robert Fleck, Stefanie Grebe, and Thomas Neumann.

   Dec, 11: The Red Carpet - Sans Tête von Joscha Baltha, 2024

   The Red Carpet is our new film series, created in collaboration with the K+ Café at KWM by Flavia. The film nights combine cinema and culinary delights – each film night will feature a different exciting movie.
   The next film night will take place on December 11 with the film Sans Tête by Joscha Baltha, 2024.

   MuseumsUni Krefeld

   The MuseumsUni Krefeld is entering its third year this year and once again offers exciting, student-friendly short lectures by the professors of the Hochschule Niederrhein. All lectures present current research topics and are related to the exhibition Charlotte Perriand. L’Art d’habiter / The Art of Dwelling at the Kunstmuseen Krefeld, which will be illustrated in a guided exhibition tour afterwards. MuseumsUni Krefeld is an event within the framework of the Third Mission of the Hochschule Niederrhein.

   Spotlight

   Zvi Goldstein (born 1947, Cluj, ROU) VIRUS G1, 2000, gift of the artist

   Zvi Goldstein is interested in the forces that prevail between the periphery and the center. He touches on aesthetic, social, political, and scientific events and expresses their energies through forms, structures, and diagrams. The digital print is part of a portfolio of five sheets, produced in an edition of only ten copies.

   This spotlight highlights one work each month that is new to the collection and not currently on display.

   New in "Collection in Motion": Adolf Luther

   As part of the collaboration between the Kunstmuseen Krefeld and the Adolf Luther Foundation, a permanent space has been established within Collection on the Move dedicated to Adolf Luther and his works. Under the title “Color and Transparency,” the presentation currently focuses on Luther’s characteristic hollow-mirror objects in silver and blue, which make light itself tangible within the space. The display is complemented by an early color sculpture from 1961 referencing Yves Klein, as well as a jewelry collection from 1985 that Luther created in collaboration with Susanne Dünne.

   New board of the Friends of the Kunstmuseen Krefeld

   The Friends of the Kunstmuseen Krefeld e.V. have decided on a structural change: For the first time since the Friends' Association was founded in 1983, it will be chaired by two people. Dr. Sandra Haak (l.) and Dr. Frank Oehmke will jointly head the association.
