The collection presentation Viewpoints. Sculptures from the collection since 1892 offers insights into 140 years of three-dimensional art history. Around 50 sculptures, sculptures and objects come together on the 2nd floor of the Kaiser Wilhelm Museum. They convey a vivid picture of the diversity of sculptural artistic creation from a Krefeld perspective.
In five sections, the presentation shows how sculpture rises from the pedestal, how artists discover everyday and industrial materials for their works and thus put up for discussion the understanding of what sculpture can be. The focus is on dialogues between art and design, the sculptural examination of human body forms and efforts to make movement and light themselves the subject of art. A special focus will be a look back at the exhibition German Sculptors, which took place in Krefeld in 1940 and was explored in greater depth for the first time as part of the current presentation.
