The foundation for the Kunstmuseen Krefeld was laid with the opening of the Kaiser Wilhelm Museum (KWM) in 1897.
The two villas Haus Lange and Haus Esters were built in 1927/28 by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. Haus Lange has been part of the Kunstmuseen Krefeld since 1955 and Haus Esters since 1981. Since then they have been a venue for the presentation of contemporary art and design.
From Art Nouveau to ZERO, from Claude Monet to Gerhard Richter - the collection of the Kunstmuseen Krefeld today comprises around 24,000 works of fine and applied art from the late Middle Ages to the present.
Dunkirk and Krefeld are celebrating their 50-year town twinning with a collection exchange and the exhibition Museum Without Borders. Art-Design / Dunkerque-Krefeld in Haus Lange Haus Esters and in public space. We cordially invite you to the opening of the exhibition on Sunday, April 28, from 11.30 a.m. in HL HE. Admission is free.
