COLLECTION HIGHLIGHTS

KAISER WILHELM MUSEUM
13 JULY – 2 SEPTEMBER 2018

Shaped by the history of the museum, the collection at Kunstmuseen Krefeld is unique in its diversity. Precipitated by civic engagement and the reformatory zeitgeist of 1900, Kunstmuseen Krefeld became one of the first places to show international art in the 1950s. Today’s collection not only reaches back to the late Middle Ages and the Renaissance, but also spans the nineteenth and early twentieth century, classical modernism, art after 1945, and contemporary positions. As a whole, the collection is defined by its interconnection of applied and fine art. Following the exhibitions The Adventure of Our Collection I and II, as well as various temporary exhibitions, introducing and contextualizing the collection’s holdings, Highlights from the collection will be on view this summer on the second floor of the Kaiser Wilhelm Museum.
